Wait On God

Today’s Scripture

“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I have hope in Him.” The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, To the person who seeks Him. It is good that he waits silently For the salvation of the LORD – Lamentations 3:24-26

Wait on God

We live in a microwave-dependent world where instant gratification, the “give me more NOW” mentality and the desire for lightening fast results are the name of the game. Although this trend started in the business world, from dating to weight loss, this unrealistic mindset has carried over to nearly every other area of our lives.

However, as a believer, you are called and expected to march to the beat of a different drummer. Your life should not be characterized by anxiety, fear, stress and worry. In fact, numerous times within the scriptures within we are encouraged to be patient and commanded to wait on the Lord.

Wait on the Lord, be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart – Psalms 27:14

The Word of God reassures that IF we wait on God, our patience will be rewarded! Why? Because He who has promised is faithful (Hebrews 10:23)! God is not a man that He should lie and whatever He speaks He faithfully brings to pass (Numbers 23:19). In fact, nowhere within the scriptures do we find God being unfaithful to a single promise He made – regardless of how long it took.

Abram waited on God and was blessed with an heir at the age of 100! Job waited on God and all that he lost was restored! And just as God blessed Abram and Job, He will do the same for you. All you have to do is wait!

So don’t let go of that promise you’ve been holding on to that just won’t seem to come to pass. Don’t let go of the prophetic word spoken over your life even though there is no sign of its manifestation. Don’t let go of what God spoke to you even though you don’t have the skills, relationships or finances to bring it to pass. Wait on God! He is faithful and will bring what He promised you to pass! Again I say wait!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word which I will hide in my heart that it may give me the ability to wait patiently for You. I trust you, Lord, for You are faithful and will bring your plan for me to pass according to Your sovereign will.  In Jesus’ name I pray and give thanks – Hallelujah and Amen!
